About Our Other Enterprises

These are our four smaller enterprises, but that doesn't mean they're less important than the others, they are:

Mick's Workshop

Mick's Workshop is a furniture refinishing workshop located at 2218 F Street. In addition to furniture refinishing and some furniture building, the Workshop also does some small home repair and light hauling. Mick's Workshop is managed by Mick Vevera, a multi-talented craftsman.

It is best to call ahead if you plan to visit or bring in a piece of furniture to be redone, because Mick may be away on jobs. Mick's number is (319) 530-0045. As a non-profit business the Workshop welcomes donations of antiques, furniture, and miscellany.

Mick's Workshop is closely associated with Vintage Shoppe located across the street at 2203 F Street. Many of Mick's pieces can be found in the Shoppe.

RAMP-Chore

The RAMP stands for Residential Accommodations Modification Project. As the acronym RAMP provides design, consultation, and implementation services to persons with disabilities and the elderly to help them modify their living environments to be more accommodating to their mental and physical needs, Chore is a home service for elderly and handicapped persons involving a variety of personal services (hauling, yard work, snow removal, etc.).

RAMP-Chore is designed to serve persons with disabilities and elderly persons living in their own homes or apartments. Individuals may directly contact RAMP-Chore or be referred by another individual or organization. This is usually followed by a home visit and consultation, which in turn can lead to a formal plan and design for the recommended changes. In some cases RAMP may be chosen as the contractor to do the work, but the resident is free to work with other contractors or volunteers. RAMP can not provide the funds to implement changes but is willing to assist in finding possible sources of funding and support.
